Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve

Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve comprises 55 hectares of subtropical rainforest  overlooking the Glass House Mountains National Landscape.  A remnant of the rainforests that once covered the Blackall Range, the Reserve is a living museum of diverse plant and animal life which will delight with its tranquility and beauty.

Take a relaxing walk along the rainforest tracks from 7am to 6pm (Gold Coin donation appreciated) have a picnic or barbeque, or relax at the Café.

 

Maleny Dairies Good old fashioned Milk!

Bring the Family for a picnic and enjoy the view of the Maleny Dairies. Tour times: Monday to Saturday at 10.30am and 2.30pm. (Times can vary for bus groups etc). Closed public holidays.

A tour guide will take you up to the baby animal pen to pat the baby calves.We will give you a brief history of the farm and the reason why we started Maleny Dairies.You will then be shown how handmilking is done using our cow ‘Sweetpea’ or ‘FairyBell’ or ‘Millie’. A walk down into the pit of the dairy to see where the cows get milked. (At the 2.30pm session you can see the cows being milked) Then we go to the factory so see where the milk is processed and bottled. See the coldroom and drystore. Watch a 10 minute DVD showing the process of milk from the cow to the bottle and everything in between. At the conclusion of the tour you will get to try some of our dairy deliciousness. (If time permits for school children grades 3 and up, we will have a question and answer session and play a game.)

 

Maleny Golf - 9 hole golf course

The Maleny Golf Course first nine holes are now open for play, why not come and try our course in the green hills of Maleny. Planning has commenced for the second nine holes, there is no timetable as yet for this work. Visitors are welcome to play open for play 7 days a week and we operate competitions Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays and Saturdays.

 

Baroon Pocket Dam quiet place for a bbq

The Baroon Pocket Dam is a rock and earth-fill embankment dam with an un-gated spillway across the Obi Obi Creek, which is located in the South East region of Queensland, Australia. The main purpose of the dam is for potable water supply.

Lake Baroon is a quieter recreation lake, with only electric powered boats and paddle craft permitted on the water. Fishing, swimming and the surrounding trails are also popular activities. Permits are not required for boating or fishing at Baroon.

An Aviary covering over 1000 m2 opened on November 16th 2013, currently housing over 300 birds.

From Australian cockatoos and lorikeets to exotic parrots and macaws, you will meet hundreds of cheeky and colourful birds, many of whom will land right on your shoulder.

In the animal enclosure next to the aviary you can pat their friendly alpacas, goat, sheep, chickens, ducks and guineafowl, as well as a miniature horse and donkey.

Gardners Falls - relaxing swim location

Gardner’s Falls is a wonderful place for people of all ages to freshen up, relax swim or just soak their feet in the cool stream. It’s just a short walk from the car park down to a series of falls and rock pools that are popular for swimming, picnicking and diving into the falls. There is even a rope swing that daredevils may want to try, but it’s best to check the depth first as water levels can vary.
